UniBank to Open New Worcester Branch Across from Polar Park

UniBank, a premier Mutual Community Bank headquartered in Central Massachusetts, will open a new full-service branch located at The Revington, 1 Green Island Blvd., Worcester, across from Polar Park. UniBank recently signed a lease for the space and plans to provide services in a fast-growing neighborhood that is currently without a retail bank.

Michael Welch, CEO of UniBank said, “Worcester is continuing to experience fast-paced growth, both in population and business expansions.  Because of this on-going trend, we thoughtfully decided to open a new full-service branch to expound on our deep relationships with the Worcester community.  Additionally, we selected a location in the city that is investing in the future of the Canal District businesses and consumers, and we could not be prouder to serve them with our full suite of convenient financial solutions as well as the robust non-profit community.”

The development of Polar Park, the Worcester Public Market and the redesign of Kelley Square mark significant recent changes in the Canal District area. Several apartment projects have opened recently or are under way, bringing thousands of new residents, shoppers, diners and baseball fans to the neighborhood.

Welch stated, “Denis Dowdle and his team at Madison Properties were among the early visionaries and significant investors, instrumental in the revitalization of this area.  We are pleased to have our next Worcester branch located in The Revington, which is a magnificent facility that serves as the anchor building for this area.”

Denis Dowdle, President of Madison Properties, said: “We are delighted to welcome UniBank to our development in the Ballpark District. UniBank is a local community bank which embodies the strength and resolve of Worcester and will be a perfect fit for this neighborhood – both residential and business.  UniBank matches up well with the revitalization of the Ballpark District.”

Welch added: “UniBank is one of the original (21) Founding Partners who were instrumental in helping to bring the Worcester Red Sox to our city.”  “We were thrilled to partner with the city and other businesses to make that early investment aiding our community in the most significant urban revitalization project in Worcester’s history.  Now, we are excited to locate a branch at the heart of the action.  At UniBank, we believe institutions’ decisions, when done thoughtfully, and strategically, are about transforming the community.  We are honored to be part of this historical transformation and the future of our region.”
